No. 1 Indiana Pacers white guy: Jeff Foster

1: Jeff Foster, F/C, 1999-2012 (Texas State)

Foster played his whole career in Indiana, and ironically, was the opposite of the stereotypes about Bird’s players. He was extremely athletic and couldn’t shoot for most of his career. The hustle stereotype holds true — he is the Pacer against whom all hustle players in the future will be compared. He is the measuring stick for Tyler Hansbrough, and he will be the same for Miles Plumlee. Foster retired this past season in the Pacers’ top 10 career list in eight different categories in franchise history. He had career averages of 4.9 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. Most important, he was a known enforcer who was about winning above all else. The Pacers say Plumlee is a near clone of Foster. If that’s true, much of the criticism heaped upon the Pacers for drafting him will turn into praise.
