Hartley scores 3 TDs in 1st as Chatard crushes Broad Ripple 62-0

INDIANAPOLIS — Bishop Chatard’s first play foreshadowed what was ahead for Broad Ripple on Saturday.

Pete Hartley (2) of Bishop Chatard was the most valuable player in the 62-0 win over Broad Ripple.

Chatard junior Stan Jackson took the opening kickoff 80 yards to the end zone, and the 62-0 rout was on in the game played at Warren Central.

Chatard’s defense nearly forced a safety after Broad Ripple muffed the ensuing kickoff, and the Rockets started from their 4-yard line. After forcing a three-and-out, Chatard scored again. Pete Hartley capped off a 3-play, 43-yard scoring drive with a romping touchdown run.

Hartley scored the next two Chatard touchdowns to help the Trojans lead 28-0 at the end of the quarter.

fumble, Chatard had the ball with yet another opportunity to score before the end of the half. Noah Schrader showed the depth of Chatard’s run game by scoring too. With 1:39 left in the first half, Chatard’s Sam Jost stepped in front of a Tyler Metcalfe pass and took it the other way for yet another Chatard score. Chatard led 55-0 at the break, and it was reserves the rest of the way.
