Chatard claimed the Sectional 21 championship with a 50-7 win over Greencastle.
Chatard started in the normal fashion, running the ball. The opening drive concluded with a Pete Hartley 22-yard run score and the rout was on.
Greencastle had only given up 2.2 points per game, but Chatard scored more points than Greencastle had allowed all season.
Greencastle punted on its opening drive and forced Chatard to punt as well. The Chatard punt was downed on the 2-yard line and led to a safety forced by senior linebacker Michael Weimer. The Trojans then broke their tendencies and passed for a 16-yard touchdown to tight end Henry Hill.
The next score came again from Hartley on an 82-yard punt return.
Backup running back Alex Kimack got in on the action with an 8-yard touchdown run to make it 29-0 before half.
The second half opened with Greencastle getting the ball first. Sean Parsons intercepted a Nick Gilliam pass and returned it 42 yards for a score. The remaining scores came from an Anthony Larose reception and a run by senior RB Eric Moore.
Joe Fagan, perhaps Chatard’s most dynamic player, dislocated his left shoulder on the first drive and is questionable for next week. If he is unable to play, the Trojans will miss him at receiver, free safety and on punt and kick returns.
Chatard will play Greensburg at Lawrence North next week for the regional championship.
