I got to be Mean Gene Okerlund for a day.
I interviewed WWE Superstar Damien Sandow by telephone on Thursday afternoon to promote the Survivor Series, which will be held Sunday in Indianapolis.
Sandow is one half of the team “Rhodes Scholars” with Cody Rhodes. The intellectually superior one will be a part of Team Ziggler, which includes captain Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett and Rhodes Scholars.
Sandow talked about Team Foley, their opponents. Mick Foley will captain a team that includes Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Daniel Bryan and The Miz.
The match will be an old-school elimination matchup where teams of five strive to survive.
Rhodes suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury during the taping of SmackDown, leaving his status for Sunday’s elimination match in question. Sandow addressed Rhodes’ health during the interview.
Sandow also hyped the title match, a triple threat contest involving champion CM Punk and challengers Ryback and John Cena and the World Heavyweight Title match between champion Big Show and challenger Sheamus.
Sandow remained in character the entire interview, which I considered a treat. He pretty much insulted every human being on Earth except his teammates and was quite entertaining in doing so. Here is the interview. Enjoy!
