George drops team record nine 3s as Pacers beat Hornets 115-107

I’ve seen a lot in my eight years of covering the Indiana Pacers, but nothing like what I witnessed on Wednesday night.

Paul George dropped nine 3-pointers after halftime to help the Pacers beat the New Orleans Hornets 115-107 in overtime. He broke Reggie Miller’s team record for threes in a game.

George had four points in nine minutes in the first half before unleashing one of the most impressive shooting barrages in Pacers history. He finished with a career-high 37 points. This from a guy who hadn’t made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter all season and hadn’t scored more than 20 points in a game this year.

Perhaps now, George is ready to assume his role as the star of the team. Here’s my earlier story on the opportunity in front of George with Danny Granger out.

Also, big ups to Roy Hibbert on his triple-double — 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks. He had been struggling, and he still struggled at times, making just 3 of 12 shots and fouling out. But hey, a triple-double is a triple-double. As Area 55 would say, Roy! Roy Roy Roy! Roy Roy Roy! Roy Roy Roy!!
