Purdue guard KK Houser named Big Ten player of the week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue redshirt junior KK Houser was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead the Boilermakers to wins over Georgia Tech and Central Michigan last week.
Houser averaged 19.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 55.6 percent (10-18) from the field, including 44.4 percent (4-9) from three-point range. The starting point guard also made all 14 of her free throws, including a season-high 10-of-10 against Georgia Tech. Houser tied her career high with 10 assists against the Yellow Jackets, recording her first double-double of the season and second of her career with a team-high 19 points to go along with the 10 helpers. Houser also had four steals in the victory.
Against Central Michigan Houser scored 19 points in 20 minutes while dishing out five assists and grabbing two steals. The Lincoln, Neb., native shot 60.0 percent from the floor, including 3-of-5 threes, and made her four three throw attempts.
It is the first conference weekly honor of Houser’s career and the first for Purdue this season. Brittany Rayburn was the last Boilermaker to be named B1G Player of the Week, earning the distinction Jan. 16, 2012, after tying the NCAA Division I record for threes in a game with 12 at Minnesota.
Purdue will return to action Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at IPFW in Fort Wayne, Ind.
