Butler’s Rotnei Clarke available to play Saturday vs. Temple

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — Butler scoring leader Rotnei Clarke, who suffered a neck injury in Butler’s 79-73 victory at Dayton on Jan. 12, has been cleared to resume game action. He will be available for Butler’s home contest against Temple on Saturday.
“Rotnei has remained symptom free, and he’s gone through full-contact practice with the team,” said Butler trainer Ryan Galloy. “As long as there are no unexpected changes, he’s cleared to begin playing in games.”
Clarke was injured in the first half of the game at Dayton. He came up with a steal and was attempting to score when he was fouled on the lay-up attempt and crashed into the basket support. He remained on the floor for eight minutes and eventually was taken from the court on a stretcher. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where it was determined that there was no fracture.
He’s been sidelined for Butler’s last three games, including the Bulldogs’ 54-53 loss at La Salle on Wednesday.
The 6-foot senior guard transferred to Butler from Arkansas in 2011, and began his final collegiate season this year. He leads the No. 9-ranked Bulldogs and ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring with a 16.3 average.
