Zionsville’s Andrew Dakich entered Saturday’s game against Carmel with a 14.9 points per game average. The Greyhounds employed a suffocating defense to hold him scoreless in a 51-28 win.
Dakich missed all five of his shots from the floor, and his team shot 36% for the game. The 28 points were a season low for the Eagles.
James Crowley led a balanced Greyhound scoring attack with 13 points while Ryan Cline hit 4 for 9 3-pointers for 12 points and Zach McRoberts added 10.
After moving to the #1 ranking last week, Carmel completed a weekend sweep after beating Lawrence North 48-43 Friday night. The Greyhounds improve to 15-1, and are on a 11-game win streak since they were defeated by Fishers in their fifth game. Zionsville falls to 8-8 on the season.
Michael Sollman led Zionsville with 11 points.
Carmel will host #2 Hamilton Southeastern, who was defeated Saturday by Lawrence North, on Thursday.
