Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o spoke about the situation regarding the girlfriend hoax. Here are some of his comments, with video of the entire 14-minute interview session below.
“It’s definitely embarrassing. You walk into grocery stores and you give people double takes to see if they’re staring at you. It’s definitely embarrassing. It’s, I guess, a part of the process. It’s part of the journey. It’s only going to make me stronger.”
“I’ve learned first, just to be honest in everything you do, from the big things to the small things. To keep your circle very small and to really understand who’s in your corner and who’s not. Going off of the season my team and I had, there were a lot of people in our corner, and then when Jan. 16th happened, there was a lot of people in the other corner. I’ve just learned to appreciate the people that I have that are with me, and to just makes sure that you always turn a negative thing into a positive.”
“How I’m handling it going forward is doing what I’m doing right now. Focusing on home and focusing on the combine. Not everybody gets this opportunity to be here. I’m sure there’s thousands and thousands of people who would like to be in Indianapolis.”
“For me, I’m just looking forward to getting straight to football. I understand the questions, but I’ve answered everything I could, and for me, I’d really like to talk about football.”
