With Thursday being the beginning of the spring recruiting period, it seemed like a good time to catch up with a Butler signee.
Andrew Chrabascz contributed to Cushing Academy’s (Mass.) 24-5 season after committing to Brad Stevens this past August.
Listed at 6-7 and 210 pounds, Chrabascz may be able to come in and help fill in that frontline when he arrives on campus on June 24th. He describes his game as face-up four.”
I’m working on my all around game, said Chrabascz of his summer plans. I need to make sure I’m in the best condition possible and keep on improving my perimeter work as well as my post work.
He also said that he mostly stays in contact with Butler coaches Brad Stevens and Terry Johnson and hopes to have a workout plan soon to be more prepared for when he steps on campus in a few months.
They already know what they are getting.
Andrew is an unbelievable leader and is extremely well-respected among his peers and coaches at Cushing Academy, said Stevens after Chrabascz signed his letter of intent. He is very physical and very effective both inside and out. His competitiveness, skill and charisma are at a high level.
In those words from Stevens, it sounds like Chrabascz will fit in just fine in Butler’s system, and that is definitely a positive as he looks to add to a front line that looks very thin right now. Khyle Marshall and Kameron Woods will be able to step in, but, because of the loss of Andrew Smith, there really is no traditional center on the roster returning from last year.
At that time, however, Chrabascz won’t be the only one coming to Butler to begin his freshman season as a part of this Bulldog program. He’ll be part of a four man class alongside Nolan Berry, Elijah Brown and his AAU teammate, Rene Castro. Chrabascz says he has maintained a relationship with each one as they approach their college careers.
Rene Castro is from the area so he and I are very, very close, said Chrabascz. He noted that social media has helped the process of keeping up with his future teammates as Brown and Berry hail from California and Missouri, respectively.
In all, this class brings a lot of talent to a Butler team that will be looking to keep the effects of losing Smith and Rotnei Clarke as minimal as possible.
