Pacers’ Roy Hibbert, Gerald Green throw down sick dunks

It made sense that the “Human Highlight Film” was in the building for the Pacers-Hawks game.

Dominique Wilkins, the former dunking machine and current vice president of basketball operations and broadcaster for the Hawks, witnessed some highlights that were worthy of his presence.

Indiana’s Roy Hibbert put this facial on Ivan Johnson, courtesy of YouTube account WatchNBA201213.

Gerald Green then followed with this one over Josh Smith, courtesy of G4NBAVideos:

These two plays pretty much sum up Indiana’s 113-98 win. The Pacers dominated, then let up a little, only to reassert themselves whenever it appeared Atlanta might possibly get close.

Normally, Green’s dunk is the play of the night. But it happened just after the play of the year. I didn’t know Hibbert could get that kind of extension, nor did I think he had the mentality to even try that dunk. Wow. What’s crazy is that Roy had two really nice passes to cutters before that dunk, and hit a 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter that he got off a bit too late. Hibbert said he actually liked the 3-pointer better than the dunk and joked that it was a secret weapon.

As for Green, he stepped up when Lance Stephenson went down with a hip injury. Stepped up, as in up, up and away.

For a grind-it-out team like Indiana, there sure seems to be some Hollywood there. We’ll see if Indiana can maintain its new Showtime image in Atlanta.
