The Pacers made a couple additions to their training camp roster on Tuesday.
The team announced the signings of free-agent guard Ron Howard and forward Darnell Jackson.
Both players will compete for the final spots on the Pacers’ 15-man roster.
The contracts are believed to be non- or partially guaranteed.
The Pacers have already added several players on partial or non-guaranteed deals.
Rasual Butler signed a non-guaranteed deal and Donald Sloan, the third-string point guard, signed a partially guaranteed deal.
The Pacers now have 16 players under contract heading into training camp, which starts at the end of the month. Twelve of those 16 players have guaranteed deals. NBA rules stipulate that teams can have 15 players on the regular-season roster.
So Howard, Jackson and Butler will have to impress the Pacers’ brass in training camp to gain a roster spot.
Howard, 6-foot-5, averaged 16.8 points and 2.8 assists as a six-year veteran of the D-League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Jackson, out of Kansas, appeared in 138 games (four starts) for the Cavaliers, Bucks and Kings from 2008-11. He played in the D-League last season.
