INDIANAPOLIS — Ever since the NBA schedule was released for this season, Pacer fans had tonight’s game circled on their calendars.  Lance Stephenson returned to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the first time since leaving the Pacers to join the Charlotte Hornets this past summer.  Because of his departure, Solomon Hill is getting his opportunity to play.  And wouldn’t you know it, Solomon Hill scored the game winner on a put-back at the buzzer.  The Pacers won 88-86 which gave them their fourth win in their last five games.

“I was very emotional coming back here,” Stephenson said after the game. “I wish we would’ve got the W.”  Stephenson received a mix of cheers and boos during introductions, before receiving lots of boos throughout the game. “Once the game started, I knew they (the fans) were going to start booing me to try to get me out of my game.”   (Video) Lance Stephenson reacts to the loss

Stephenson continued his shooting struggles, as he shot just 4-of-12 for the night.  He had a chance to put the Hornets ahead late with a three but missed.  He did grab eight rebounds and had seven assists on the night.

Tonight marked the Pacers’ largest comeback victory this season, as they trailed 42-27 late in the 2nd quarter.  They were able to climb all the way back despite shooting just 13% from behind the arc on the night (2-15).

Roy Hibbert led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  Luis Scola had a very efficient night with 15 points and seven rebounds, including one of the game’s biggest plays- A three point play that tied the game with 1:26 to go.

After a big defensive stop, the stage was set for the Pacers to try and win the game on the final shot.  Rodney Stuckey took a jumper on the right side with two seconds remaining.  It fell right into the hands of Solomon Hill who put it in as time expired.

Solomon Hill may have only had six points for the game, but making the game-winner and playing excellent defense is still a great night. “Solomon Hill finally got the chance he wanted,” Stephenson said. “He’s just got to keep playing hard. He’s playing incredible defense.”  Hill’s development this season is not just on the offensive side.  He’s becoming a very solid two-way player and will only improve from here.

Al Jefferson led the Hornets with 28 points.  All other Charlotte players shot a combined 25-of-64 (39%).

After a rough 1-6 start, the Pacers have pushed their record to 5-7.  Considering the injuries, fans should be very pleased with the effort and respectable record.

No matter what your feelings are for Lance Stephenson, one thing is for sure: He had a great view of the Pacers victory tonight.
