INDIANAPOLIS — Here’s the good news: The Pacers won three quarters on Saturday night. Here’s the bad news: It still wasn’t enough. The Portland Trail Blazers had a monster 2nd quarter, outscoring the Pacers 36-15 which led them to a 95-85 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Pacers have now lost eight consecutive games as they continue to search for answers. “We’ve just got to keep grinding” Coach Frank Vogel said after the game. “We just have to work at it every day. Try and get better every day.”
C.J. Watson led the Pacers with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Rodney Stuckey had a surprising double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
David West passed the 12,000 career point total in this game, which was overshadowed by the loss. He finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and six assists.
Portland had a very balanced attack in this game with five players scoring in double-figures. They were led by LaMarcus Aldridge as he scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
The month of January will bring a much lighter schedule for the Pacers than December. Eight of the first nine games in that month are against sub .500 teams. The question is, will the Pacers be able to win some games before that time. They play the two Los Angeles teams back to back Monday and Wednesday of next week.
