INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers fans have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Even after their 5-game winning streak was snapped on Wednesday night at the hands of Minnesota, this team still left the Fieldhouse crowd buzzing, and dreaming about the future ahead.
Rookie sensation Benn Mathurin put on a show in the 1st half with 16 points. Myles Turner put on a show in the 2nd half with 21 of his 31 points, including a monster dunk and tying a career-high with seven 3’s. The Haliburton-Turner connection continued to shine, with Haliburton assisting on eight of Turner’s buckets in the game.
“He was special tonight,” teammate Buddy Hield said of Turner.
“Coach has been putting me in good spots, and I’m being aggressive,” said Turner. “My teammates have been finding me and shots have been falling.” When asked where his dunk ranked personally, Turner said, “It’s up there. Maybe up there with the Hayward dunk. I think I blacked out for a minute.”
Things are about to get tough for the Pacers as they host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, before heading out on a long seven-game road trip out West, or the “wild-blue yonder”, as Rick Carlisle put it Wednesday night. But with a 10-7 start, this team has already exceeded expectations. And even the losses have been bringing some excitement. Don’t miss an opportunity to see the Pacers in person this season.
