No. 5 Indiana Pacers white guy: Tyler Hansbrough
5. Tyler Hansbrough, F, 2009-present (North Carolina)
Pacers fans booed this pick, but quickly fell in love with this hustle player. Hansbrough was a bull in a China shop as a rookie, but he eventually developed a mid-range jumper and some passing skills to go with his reckless drives and offensive rebounding prowess. He missed most of his rookie year with illnesses and injuries, but started 29 games his second year, averaging 11 points and 5.2 rebounds. He gave way to David West in the starting lineup this past season, but still averaged a respectable 9.3 points and 4.4 rebounds. He already has surpassed most expectations in his pro career. The highlights are from a game he played against the Spurs that shows pretty much what he offers – hustle, midrange shots, rebounding and the ability to draw fouls.
