Dorien Bryant was electrifying as the top target for current NFL quarterback Curtis Painter.
He caught 292 passes, second in school history, for 3,548 yards, third in school history. His 21 touchdown catches are tied for fifth in Purdue annals.
During his senior year in 2007, he caught 87 passes for 936 yards and eight scores. He caught at least 80 passes in each of his final three seasons. He is Purdue’s career leader in all-purpose yards with 6,219 and kickoff return yards with 2,125.
“Another in the long line of productive receivers who played under Joe Tiller,” Purdue play-by-play man Tim Newton said. “He had great versatility, and gave the Boilermakers a home run threat from any position.”
He did it at just 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.
“What he lacked for in size, he more than made up for in speed,” Doug Griffiths, Indy Sports Legends correspondent and former Gold and Black editor, said. “He seemed to have a knack for getting open over the middle on crossing routes.”
This highlight shows him as a return man rather than as a receiver, but it shows his explosiveness Clip from YouTube username Purdue123.
